Peter Maffay has also discovered the benefits of Mallorca’s relaxing atmosphere for his musical work. In 2003, he set up a small recording studio on the grounds of the finca Ca’n Sureda – his very own rock’n’rolling musical workshop. Here, far away from the stressful timetable of everyday working life, he meets with his band for the creative pre-production of his musical albums, before starting the actual professional production in the international „Red Rooster“ studio (named after a Rolling Stones song) in Tutzing near Munich.
On Mallorca, in an atmosphere somewhere between excessive work and holiday feeling, the musicians take their time to experiment with new melodies and arrangements. These sessions are not limited to the soundproof studio walls, either: quite frequently, the musicians grasp their instruments and spontaneously continue playing in the sun – proving that it is not only painters who are inspired to new creative heights by Mallorca’s special light.
